Syncing Your Concept2 Logbook with ErgManiac
If you have been using the Concept2 online logbook to track your workouts, you can import your entire history into ErgManiac and keep future sessions in sync. This guide walks through the connection process and explains what data comes over.
Why Sync Your C2 Logbook?
The Concept2 logbook is a solid record of your training history. Many rowers have years of data stored there. By syncing it with ErgManiac, you get:
- Instant training history: No need to re-enter old workouts manually
- AI analysis on historical data: ErgManiac can analyze trends and patterns across your full history, not just workouts logged going forward
- Accurate personal bests: Your PRs populate immediately based on your complete record
- Better recommendations: More data means the AI coach has more context for your training plans
Step 1: Create a Concept2 Account (If You Have Not Already)
If you have been rowing without logging anywhere, you will need a free Concept2 account first. Go to log.concept2.com and sign up. You will use this same account to connect to ErgManiac.
If you already have a Concept2 logbook account, skip to Step 2.
Step 2: Connect Your Concept2 Account
In ErgManiac, go to Settings > Integrations > Concept2 Logbook and click Connect.
You will be redirected to Concept2's authorization page. Log in with your Concept2 credentials and grant ErgManiac read access to your logbook data. This is a one-time authorization.
Click Authorize and you will be sent back to ErgManiac.
Step 3: Initial Import
After connecting, ErgManiac begins importing your workout history. Depending on how many workouts you have logged, this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes.
During the import, you will see a progress indicator showing how many workouts have been pulled in. Once complete, your dashboard will update with your full training history.
A few things to know about the initial import:
- All workout types are imported: Single distance, single time, intervals, and variable intervals
- Historical data is read-only: ErgManiac imports the data but does not modify anything in your Concept2 logbook
- Duplicate detection: If you have already logged some workouts manually in ErgManiac, the sync process detects duplicates by matching date, distance, and time. Duplicates are skipped automatically.
Step 4: Ongoing Sync
After the initial import, new workouts sync automatically. Here is how it works:
- You finish a workout and it gets logged to your Concept2 logbook (either through the ErgData app, USB upload, or manual entry on log.concept2.com)
- ErgManiac checks for new entries periodically
- New workouts appear in your ErgManiac dashboard with full AI analysis
The sync runs every few hours. If you want a workout to appear immediately, you can also trigger a manual sync from Settings > Integrations > Concept2 Logbook > Sync Now.
What Data Transfers
Here is what comes over from your Concept2 logbook:
| Data | Included | | --- | --- | | Date and time | Yes | | Workout type | Yes | | Distance | Yes | | Duration | Yes | | Average pace | Yes | | Stroke rate | Yes | | Heart rate | Yes (if recorded) | | Interval splits | Yes | | Drag factor | Yes | | Comments/notes | Yes | | Ranking data | No |
The Concept2 logbook stores a solid set of core metrics. The main things it does not include are real-time stroke-by-stroke data and detailed heart rate curves. For those, you would need to use the ErgData app with a Bluetooth connection during your workout.
Using Both Photo Scan and C2 Sync
You can use both features together. Photo scan gives you instant AI analysis right after your workout, while C2 sync ensures nothing falls through the cracks if you forget to scan one day. Duplicate detection ensures each workout only appears once.
Disconnecting
Go to Settings > Integrations > Concept2 Logbook and click Disconnect. Previously imported workouts remain in ErgManiac. If you reconnect later, it picks up where it left off.
